Shri Ganesh Chaturthi, the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Ganesha, is being celebrated across the country. It is also known by names like Vinayak Chaturthi, Kalank Chaturthi and Danda Chaturthi etc. In Hindu religion, Lord Ganesha is considered the first worshipper, hence he is worshiped before doing any auspicious work. But do you know that Ganesha has a very unique relationship with mother cow.

The way a person develops intellectually with the blessings of Ganapati, who is called the god of intellectual knowledge. That is why devotees worship him with true heart and full devotion to get his blessings. In the same way, while worshiping Ganapati and Mother Cow, devotees worship both with equal devotion.

Ganpati and Gaumata connection
According to religious beliefs, Chaturthi date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month is considered very important. This is because along with the worship of Lord Ganesha, Mother Cow is also worshiped on this day. In fact, when Bahula Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated, mother cow is also worshipped. In Hindu religion, cow has been given the status of mother. Cow is worshiped even on ordinary days, but there is a special coincidence associated with this day. Special importance has been given to cow worship on this day. It is believed that worshiping and serving Mother Cow on the day of Bahula Chaturthi brings inexhaustible virtue.

Lord Krishna and holy Cows
It is also believed that worshiping Lord Ganesha and Moon God on the day of Sankashti Chaturthi eliminates many problems in life. On this day, after fasting throughout the day, Lord Krishna, Shiva family and cow-calf are worshiped in the evening. Those who observe this fast get immense wealth and all kinds of opulence’s and those who wish to have children get the happiness of children. According to mythological belief, on this day devotees install idols of Lord Shiva-Parvati, Kartikeya-Shri Ganesh and cow made of clay in their homes. Then they are worshiped with rituals. It is believed that such worship leads to desired results.

Not only this, Lord Shri Krishna has recognized Bahula Chaturthi as the day of cow worship. In such a situation, Lord Shri Krishna can also be worshiped on this day. Anyway, Lord Krishna was fonder of cows.

A Divine story of Bahula
According to mythological texts, Kamdhenu cow entered Nand's cowshed in the form of Bahula to see the pastimes of Krishnaji. Krishna ji liked this cow very much, he always spent time with it. Bahula also had a calf, he used to miss it a lot whenever she went for grazing. Once when Bahula went to the forest to graze, she went too far while grazing, and reached near a lion. The lion became happy after seeing her and started thinking of making her his prey. Bahula got scared, and she was thinking only of her calf.

As soon as the lion moved towards her, Bahula told him not to eat her right now, her calf is hungry at home, she will return after feeding him milk, then she should make him her prey. The lion said, how can I kill her? Should I believe it? Then Bahula assured him and swore that she would definitely come. Bahula goes back to the cow shed and feeds milk to the calf, and lovingly leaves it there and returns to the lion in the forest. The lion is surprised to see him. Actually it is Krishna in the form of a lion, who comes to test Bahula.

Krishna comes in his real form and tells Bahula that I am very pleased with you, you have passed the examination. You will be worshiped by the entire human race on the Chaturthi day of Krishna Paksha of the month of Sawan and the entire race will address you as Mother Cow and whoever observes this fast will be blessed with happiness, prosperity, wealth, prosperity and children.
