Significance of Shravan month

Festivals, dates, constellations, days and months have great importance in Sanatan Indian culture. In this sequence, the month of Shravan also has its own importance. Even in the scriptures, the month of Shravan has been described as very important. Lord Shiva is worshiped in the month of Shravan. It is believed that the month of Sawan is very dear to Lord Shankar. It also has many authentic and scientific facts. According to the Vedic religious text Shiva Purana, the person who observes a fast on Monday in the month of Sawan, his wishes are fulfilled by Lord Shiva.

With this unwavering faith and belief, in the month of Sawan, Shiva devotees go across the country to visit the twelve Jyotirlingas, various Shivalayas and self-styled Shivalingas as per their belief and tradition. According to our scriptures and Puranas, the month of Shravan is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. The month of Shravan is very dear to Lord Shiva.

 

Importance of Shravan month              
Shravan month is the time of rain and greenery and it is a very beautiful time. Every day of Shravan month is important, but Monday in Shravan month has special results. According to mythological beliefs, in the month of Shravan, Mother Parvati had pleased Bholenath by doing penance and got him as her husband. That is why this month is very dear to Lord Bhole Nath.

Parthivalinga worship has special significance in the month of Shravan. Devotees who wish to have a son should worship Parthivalinga, do Shivarchan and anoint them with cow's milk, this will fulfill their wishes. From the point of view of astrology, the Sun changes its zodiac sign in the month of Shravan, which affects all the 12 zodiac signs. In the month of Shravan, there is immense compassion from Bholenath and Mata Ji.

In the month of Shravan itself, 14 gems were obtained from the churning of the ocean, one of which was Halahal poison. Lord Shiva had put this poison in his throat, due to which he was named Neelkanth. To stop the burning sensation of the poison, all the gods poured Ganga water on him. The entire Saavan is full of qualities of Shiva. Like Mahadev, Sawan also satisfies the scorching earth with rain. This is the period of creation of animals and nature.

 

 

Spiritual Significance of Shravan Month
According to another legend, Chandra Dev got relief from tuberculosis by worshiping Bhole Bhandari on this day (Monday). That is why Monday came to be considered the best day for worshiping Lord Shiva. Shiva is very kind. There is a belief that if Shiva is happy with you then you will not have to face any problem. By worshiping Bhole Baba with true heart on this day, all the wishes are fulfilled. To get Lord Shiva as her husband, Parvati ji observed a fast for 16 Mondays along with severe penance, due to which she was pleased and asked Parvati ji to ask for the groom of her choice. Due to severe penance and fasting on 16 Mondays, he could not refuse Parvati ji. Shiva family is duly worshiped in the month of Shravan.

 

Shravan Maas dedicated to lord Shva
Every day of Shravan month is dedicated to fasts and festivals. For this reason, the ritual of Gauri Vrat is performed every Monday and every Tuesday of the month of Sawan to worship Shankar. Because it falls on Tuesday, it is called Gauri Mangala Vrat. Shiva should be auspicious along with Shakti, hence Saavan is a month completely dedicated to Shiva-Shakti.

 

Shravan Somvar Vrat - Fasting days
It is believed that if unmarried girls keep fast for this entire month, they get the life partner of their choice. There is a mythological story behind this which is related to Shiva and Parvati. Seeing her husband being insulted by her father Daksh, Sati committed suicide. Sati took rebirth as Parvati and kept a fast on all Mondays of Sawan to make Shiva her groom. As a result, she got Lord Shiva as her husband. Rishi Markandeya ji had a short life. On the orders of the Guru, in order to live a long life, he performed severe penance in the month of Sawan itself and obtained the blessings of Shiva, due to which even the god of death, Yamraj, bowed down before the powers of mantra.
