Mauni Amavasya

The new moon day of Krishna Paksha of Magha month is called Maghi Amavasya or Mauni Amavasya. Mauni Amavasya has great significance in astrology. Mauni Amavasya literally means 'silent new moon'. According to Vedic astrology, Mauni Amavasya is celebrated when the Moon and Sun come together in Capricorn during the month of Magha.

The importance of this day becomes even greater due to the effect of the combined energy of both the Moon and the Sun on the day of Mauni Amavasya. Capricorn is the tenth sign of the zodiac and the Sun is strong in the tenth house of the horoscope. In astrology, the Sun is considered to be the factor of father and religion, so the festival of Mauni Amavasya is celebrated when the Sun and Moon meet in Capricorn.

Amavasya Tithi is dedicated to ancestors. According to beliefs, ancestors attain salvation by bathing, donating and offering tarpan in the name of ancestors on this day. Magh month has special religious significance. In such a situation, the importance of Mauni Amavasya falling in Magh month increases even more. It is believed that on Mauni Amavasya, ancestors come to earth to meet their descendants. In such a situation, charity done in their name gives many times more fruits to the pious person.

The blessings of the ancestors always remain on the family members due to charity and tarpan done in the name of ancestors on this day. The ancestors are also pleased by feeding Brahmins and the poor. Offering Arghya to Lord Surya on the day of Mauni Amavasya is considered very auspicious. It is said that doing so on this day liberates one from Pitra Dosh.

If you want to please your ancestors, then take a bath in a holy river on the day of Mauni Amavasya. After this, put water and black sesame seeds in a pot and anoint Mahadev with a true heart. Also pray for happiness and peace in life. It is believed that by doing this remedy, one gets the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Also, it provides relief from the problem of Pitra Dosh. If you are facing the problem of Shani Dosh in the horoscope, then donate black sesame seeds to the people on the day of Mauni Amavasya. It is believed that donating black sesame seeds removes the inauspicious effects in the horoscope.

On this day, wake up early in the morning and take a bath in the Ganga. If you cannot take a bath in the Ganga, then add Gangajal to the water and take a bath. After bathing, offer water to the Sun God. Remember not to speak anything until you take a bath. On the day of Mauni Amavasya, do as much meditation, prayer and other religious activities as possible. Do charity on this day. Help the needy people.

If you cannot feed a Brahmin, then you should give them food items along with cash to earn merit. Doing selfless work is auspicious on this day. Take a dip in holy rivers on the day of Mauni Amavasya so that both the body and soul are purified. Fast on the day of Mauni Amavasya, doing so gives auspicious results.

The second Amrit Snan of Maha Kumbh is falling on 29 January on the day of Mauni Amavasya. This is very auspicious.

What we do:-

Presently more than 21000 destitute cows are living a happy and peaceful life. We not only give these cows a second home but also a second chance of happy life.

These cows are docile who do not harm anyone at all. So, we cannot leave these cows to meet a fatal end. Such cows are brought to our Gaushala from horrible time in which some are disabled or deeply injured even fighting for their life. All these cows are fed, sheltered, and looked after. Hundreds of gausewaks work round the clock to look after them. These gauvansh are fed with a mixture of fodder that includes wheat, mustard cake, green grass, bhusa (husk) and jaggery. They are given plenty of water and have acres of land to move around. We have a team of expert doctors who look after these cows and administer them quality medicines.
